Changes to Sleepio availability in England
You may have noticed recently that eligibility to access Sleepio, our NICE-recommended digital treatment for insomnia, has changed. Previously, it was nationally available throughout Scotland and briefly England. Now, it is still available nationally in Scotland, whereas in England it is available in the Frimley and Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West ICS regions. We understand that these recent changes to availability have not been communicated as clearly as they could have been, and for this we apologise.
We firmly believe that people with insomnia and poor sleep should have access to drug-free, clinically proven digital treatment like Sleepio. We continue to work towards this cause and we hope to be able to provide nationwide access to Sleepio in England again soon.
A national procurement process for insomnia digital therapeutics is ongoing. However, unfortunately technical challenges have delayed NHS England's ability to proceed with a national contract award for any provider.
NHS England have communicated that they are dedicated to facilitating patient access to evidence-based digital treatments for insomnia, in line with NICE guidance. They are actively reviewing the situation in collaboration with the Government’s Department of Health and Social Care, and are aiming to be able to provide an update before the Autumn.
If you would like to be notified of any changes to Sleepio’s availability in England, please pre-register for updates at www.sleepio.com/preregister. This will enable us to contact you as soon as we have any news surrounding Sleepio availability for patients in your area.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank those who have offered Sleepio to their patients thus far and continue to support us on our mission to bring millions of people back to good mental health.
If you have any questions about this update, please email nhs@sleepio.com.
